Beginning Bittman

Decided that 2010 is the Year o' Bittman. I am going to cook as many recipes as I can in Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian. Yes, I just saw the movie Julie/Julia for the first time.

Why vegetarian? Well, it's cheaper. And generally, healthier. And I need both...

Ah, Bittman. If we could only simplify everything the way he does, into simple and sensible motifs, we'd all be happier... In so many ways. He has a great gift of figuring out the directness and power of few ingredients, and transcribing those to recipes. His recipes are suggestions rather than directions.
I'd sleep with him in no time at all.
